Hantavirus, belonging to Buniaviridae, is a negative chain RNA virus with envelope segments. Its genome includes L, M and S fragments, encoding L polymerase protein, G1 and G2 glycoprotein and nucleoprotein respectively. Hantavirus Hemorrhagic Fever with Renal Syndrome (HFRS) is a natural focus disease caused by Hantavirus. It is one of the viral diseases seriously endangering the people’s health in China and is a Class B infectious disease specified in the Law of the People’s Republic of China on the Prevention and Treatment of Infectious Diseases.

Detailed description

Hantavirus belongs to Orthohantavirus of Hantaviridae in Bunyavirales. Hantavirus is round or oval in shape, with an average diameter of 120 nm and a lipid outer membrane. The genome is a single strand negative stranded RNA, which is divided into three fragments, L, M and S, encoding RNA polymerase, envelope glycoprotein and nucleocapsid protein of the virus, respectively. Hantavirus is sensitive to general organic solvents and disinfectants; 60 ℃ for 10 min, ultraviolet irradiation (irradiation distance of 50 cm, irradiation time of 1 h), and 60Co irradiation can also inactivate the virus. At present, about 24 serotypes of Hantaan virus have been found. There are mainly two types of Hantaan virus (HTNV) and Seoul virus (SEOV) prevalent in China. HTNV, also known as type I virus, causes severe HFRS; SEOV, also known as type II virus, causes relatively mild HFRS.
